1000 hectares of land to come under irrigation in two years

Aurangabad, May 19:

Nearly 1000 hectares of land in the district will come under irrigation in the next two years as 9 minor irrigation projects have been planned by the minor irrigation department. Despite the lockdown, the department has worked on the project in the last few months to get the project underway in the next two years, with around Rs 600 crore required for land acquisition.

Plans have been prepared for 9 irrigation projects in Aurangabad and Jalna districts, including 1 project in Jalna district. Provision will be made in the budget for some of these projects. Chandrasekhar Patole, superintendent engineer, minor irrigation department, said that efforts are being made to complete all the projects in the next two years. There are 749 small scale projects in Marathwada. There are 96 projects in the district and there will be 104 with 8 new projects. Under Jayakwadi, 1.5 to 2.5 lakh hectares of land is under irrigation. In Marathwada, there are 11 large, 75 medium and 372 small projects. All these projects are expected to irrigate around 12 lakh hectares.

Names of the new projects

Devgaon Rangari, Banoti, Shivnatakali, Savladbara, Vangaonpokhari, Sonkheda, Thoratsavangi, Barbanda are the small projects to be constructed in Aurangabad district and Patoda in Jalna district.

Largest land acquisition after Brahmagavan

Land acquisition of Bramhagavan sub-irrigation scheme in the district will cost more than Rs 350 crores. After that, 9 proposed small scale irrigation projects will cost around Rs 600 crore. Land acquisition will cost more than project construction cost.
