Aurangabad, April 25:

The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has taken up the cleaning of nullahs joining Kham River as a dedicated project 2 months before monsoon. Under this initiative, 154 trucks of waste was lifted from 15 kilometres of nullahs.

The AMC and Aurangabad Smart City Development Corporation Limited (ASCDCL) took up the ambitious project of rejuvenation of River Kham under the leadership of municipal commissioner Astik Kumar Pandey in the month of January. The Cantonment Board Aurangabad, Varroc, Eco Sattva and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) have joined hands with the AMC in the project. Two JCB excavators, 2 tippers and one poklane was used in the process. In all, 154 trucks of waste, silt, debris and other obstructions that were choking the nullahs were removed. AMC has also installed barricades at 4 bridges over the nullahs so far to prevent dumping of waste. Administrator Pandey said that all these efforts will become fruitful if residents and the commercial units decide to keep the nullahs clean.
