2-day long Ellora Festival to be held soon

The district administration has decided to reduce the Ellora-Ajanta Festival from three days to two days. The preparations for the festival on a large scale have faced financial challenges, leading to this decision. To avoid any break in the tradition, the administration is working towards organising a smaller festival this year. However, securing sufficient funds has become difficult. Although the tradition will not be interrupted, the date for this festival has not yet been finalised.

The expected cost for the festival is around Rs four to five crore. The administration has been working for the past three months to secure funds, but due to the lack of proper funding, they have now decided to organise a smaller two-day festival to maintain the tradition. According to District Collector Deelip Swami, the preliminary plan is to have one day for external artists and another day for local artists to showcase their talents.

The festival will take place

The district collector said, “It is certain that the festival will be held this year. A significant amount of funding is required for the organisation. Efforts are underway to raise the necessary funds. The Department of Tourism (DoT) and the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation (CSMC) will provide the funds, and the festival is being planned accordingly.”
