Aurangabad, April 16:

A total of 338 vehicle ambulances are plying on roads to serve patients, during a health emergency, in the district. There was an addition of 16 new ambulances in the last financial year.

The ambulances are trying their best to save the lives of patients during an emergency situation and by reaching the hospital in minimum time so that the patient could get the treatment at the earliest. The blowing of beacons of ambulances (siren) become common in the urban as well as the rural sector after the spreading of Coronavirus 2020.

" A total of 16 new ambulances were registered in the office during the last year. There is registration of 338 ambulances from all over the district," said the RTO Sanjay Metrewar.

Revision of charges after seven years

The charges of ambulances in the district including the city were fixed seven years ago. During the last year, in the backdrop of the Covid-19 pandemic situation, the Regional Transport Authority revised the charges on July 9. The charges had been fixed on the basis of various types of vehicles used either for two hours or travel a journey of 25 km in the AMC limits. The ambulance charges outside the AMC limit is fixed on a per-kilometre basis, it is learnt.
