34-yr-old victim of group clash succumbs to injuries
Aurangabad, Jan 5:
A 34-year-old Baban alias Babdya Masole (Ranjangaon), who had sustained grave injuries in a clash between two groups at Ranjangaon one week ago, died while undergoing treatment in a city''s private hospital on Monday at 7 pm. Tight security was maintained while performing his last rites today afternoon.
It so happened that one Santosh Masole demanded a ''hafta'' of Rs 500 from a pan kiosk-owner Shaikh Akhtar on December 25 at 9.30 pm. This led to heated arguments between them. Later on, Santosh and his accomplice beat Akhtar and his friend Tauseef Shaikh and disappeared. In a fit of anger, Akhtar and his accomplice attacked Santosh''s house during midnight. In the attack, Sakharam Masole, Arjun Gurjar, Sanju Dhotre, Baban Masole and Amrut Gaikwad sustained injuries. Meanwhile, the health of Baban started to deteriorate, as a result, his relatives shifted him to a private hospital in the city, for treatment. However, he succumbed to the injuries on January 4 at 7 pm.
Tension prevailed in the village over the demise of Baban. Tight police bandobast is deployed in the Ranjangaon village to maintain law and order situation in the backdrop of Grampanchayat election. The last rites upon Baban were performed today at 12 noon in the presence of police. Deputy commissioner of police Nikesh Khatmode-Patil, assistant commissioner of police Vivek Saraf, police inspector Madhukar Sawant and his team maintained tight bandobast in the village.
