Aurangabad, April 4:

Out of 9 tehsils in Aurangabad district, 4 tehsils have surpassed the state in death rate. All these four tehsils have higher mortality rates than Aurangabad district and the state. These include Phulambri, Kannad, Khultabad and Sillod. The challenge of reducing mortality in all these four tehsils remains before the health administration.

Corona outbreak erupted in March in Aurangabad district. Every day, 1,200 to 1,500 new patients are diagnosed. In rural areas too, the number of patients is increasing by about 500 per day. In addition, 20 to 30 patients are dying on a daily basis that includes a large number of patients from rural areas. Many patients from rural areas come to the city for treatment. The number of critically ill patients being referred to GMCH and district civil hospital has also increased. As a result, the risk of death is increasing. So far 514 patients have died in rural areas. In the last month alone, 141 patients have succumbed to corona. The death toll in Phulambri, Kannad, Khultabad and Sillod tehsils is higher than the state. Therefore, the health department, Zilla Parishad and district administration have started war-level efforts to control the corona crisis in rural areas.

Aurangabad tehsils has the lowest mortality rate among 9 tehsils in the district. Aurangabad tehsil has a mortality rate of 1.0 per cent. The total number of corona patients in rural areas was 16,707 a month ago. In just one month, 9,498 new patients were added.

State - 2.6 per cent

Aurangabad district - 2.3 per cent

Phulambri -3.4 per cent

Kannad -3.0 per cent

Khultabad - 4.1 per cent

Sillod -3.7 per cent
