54 tonnes of oxygen needed daily

Aurangabad, April 1:

The daily use of oxygen has increased due to the increasing number of corona patients. As a result, patients need 54 tons of oxygen per day. Just a month ago, 15 tons of oxygen was needed daily. But now the demand has tripled. This has also increased the stress on the oxygen supply system.

The number of patients undergoing treatment has gone up to 15,000. 15 per cent of patients need oxygen. On March 7, 15 tons of oxygen was required daily in Aurangabad. But now it has tripled. The number of hospitals treating corona patients has increased. Therefore, the number of oxygen cylinders is insufficient. The district civil hospital had to use small oxygen cylinders as it had no jumbo cylinder on Wednesday. Oxygen is supplied to patients through oxygen tanks in the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). The GMCH administration said an oxygen tanker was permanently stationed at the site as a precaution.

No shortage of oxygen

At present, 54 tons of oxygen is required daily. The number of hospitals treating corona patients has increased. As a result, demand has also increased. But there is no shortage of oxygen in the district said, Sanjay Kale, joint commissioner, Food and Drug Administration.
