A gang of six to eight thieves broke into a mobile shop named Phone Gallery near Bhadkal Gate and stole 39 mobile phones worth Rs 7.76 lakh, along with accessories. The theft was discovered on Wednesday morning.
The incident occurred between 3 and 3.30 am on April 16. The gang arrived in an auto rickshaw. They used a bedsheet to cover the shutter and broke the lock. One thief entered the shop while others stood guard nearby. They opened mobile boxes with a cutter and took phones, Bluetooth devices, and headphones, all packed into a bag. Shop owner Mudseerdin Aneesuddin Kazmi (37) discovered the theft on the morning of April 17.They quickly opened the boxes with a cutter and stole 39 mobile phones along with Bluetooth devices, headphones, and other accessories worth Rs 1.65 lakhs, which were placed in a bag.
Police suspect the thieves conducted surveillance before the theft. CCTV footage shows only one thief entering through a slightly lifted shutter. All were masked and wore hats to hide their identities. Begumpura Police Inspector Mangesh Jagtap, Assistant Inspector Sheshrao Khatane, and PSI Shankar Dukre inspected the scene and launched an investigation.
