A 7-year-old boy, kidnapped for a ransom of Rs 2 crore, was rescued within 24 hours in a swift and well-coordinated operation by the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Police. Five accused were arrested in connection with the case, ensuring the child's safe return.

The accused have been identified as Harshal Pandharinath Shevatre (21), Jeevan Narayan Shevatre (26), Pranav Samadhan Shevatre (19), and Krishna Santosh Pathade (20), all residents of Brahmapuri, Tehsil Jafrabad, District Jalna, along with Shivraj alias Banti Vilas Gaikwad (20) from Alayand, Tehsil Jafrabad, District Jalna. In a shocking case of kidnapping for ransom, a 7-year-old boy was abducted near his residence in the N-4 Cidco area on Tuesday. The kidnappers later contacted the family, demanding Rs 2 crore for his release and threatening the child's life. However, in a swiftly executed operation, the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Police managed to rescue the child unharmed within 24 hours and arrested five accused.

150 Personnel deployed for Investigation

At a press conference, Commissioner of Police Pravin Pawar (IPS) stated that businessman Sunil Bhausaheb Tupe (34) had taken his son Chaitanya Tupe for cycling near Central Mart when unknown suspects forcibly abducted him. Soon after, the family received threatening ransom calls. A case was immediately registered at Pundaliknagar Police Station, and a massive operation was launched. The Crime Branch, Anti-Narcotics Squad, Cyber Police, and Special Investigation Teams were mobilized under direct orders from CP Pawar. A total of 30 officers and 150 personnel, divided into 20 teams, were deployed to analyze CCTV footage, technical data, and intelligence inputs to trace the kidnappers.

Police team lauded for swift action

The operation was led by DCP Shilwant Nandedkar (Zone-2), DCP Prashant Swami (Crime), ACP Manoj Pagare (Crime), and ACP Sudarshan Patil (Osmanpura Division), along with a dedicated team of inspectors and sub-inspectors from multiple departments. CP Pravin Pawar praised the officers for their quick and coordinated response, ensuring that the kidnapping case was solved within a record 24 hours. Police have assured a thorough investigation to bring the accused to justice and prevent such crimes in the future.
