Aurangabad, June 28:

The crime branch police laid a trap at Zalta Phata on June 26 and arrested an accused of a cheating case, absconding for the past three years after duping an unemployed youth of Rs 7 lakh on the pretext of giving him a job. The arrested has been identified as Madhukar Vinayak Gaikwad (45, Adul, Paithan).

Police said, Rameshwar Ramesh Kharat (28, Karankhed, Buldhana) completed BP.Ed and was in search of a job. Accused Gaikwad and two other persons promised him that they will gain him the job at the social welfare department in the district collectorate, for which they demanded Rs 7 lakh from him. He paid the money but the accused did not gained him job and did not return his money. Hence, he lodged a case at the City Chowk police station. Gaikwada was at large for the past three years. On June 26, the crime branch received the information that he is coming to the Zalta Phata. Under the guidance of PI Avinash Aghav, the police team including PSI R M Jondhale, ASI Nazir Pathan, constable Sudhakar Misal, Ashwaling Honrao, Sachin Ghuge and others laid a trap and arrested Gaikwad.
