Auangabad, April 24:

The Crime Branch traced an accused of a cheating case after 32 years. When the police reached his home, they found that he died 20 years back. The police could not get the accused but got his death certificate. Now, the police have started the procedure to close the case.

The Aurangabad city police are searching around 1200 absconding accused in various cases. The names of the accused declared fugitive by the court and registered in the police records for years. As so special efforts were taken to search these accused, the list of these accused increased over the years. DCP Nikesh Khathmode noticed this and prepared a model to trace these fugitive accused. A team of crime brach led by PSI Pawan Ingle has been appointed for this task.

The police was searching one such accused of a cheating case registered in the Kranti Chowk police station in 1988, named Devidas Laxman Kshirsagar. He never attended the court proceedings and hence the court declared him fugitive and was not traced for the past 32 years. Meanwhile, the police got the address and mobile number of his son. The police went on the given address and asked him about his father. He told that his father died on December 27, 2001 and also produced the death certificate to the police. The police have started the procedure to close the case now.
