Aurangabad, May 26:

There is no clarity over the admission process of the 11th class across the State. The aspirants and their parent are still confused about the criteria for admission after the examinations of the 10th standard were cancelled.

It may be noted the State Government cancelled the SSC examinations for the safety of students in the COVID outbreak. All the candidates would be promoted to the next class after the cancellation of the examinations. There is a debate going on among academicians and educationists in the State over the admission criteria. The State Government has not finalised the process yet.

Some city academicians and educationist feel that the Education Department should conduct Common Entrance Test (CET) for 11th class admissions, while others think that the students should be admitted on the basis of marks obtained in the 9th standard considering pandemic situation.

Noted educationist and Principal of Winchester International English School Dr Afsar Khan, said that Board examinations of standard 10th were cancelled, and students would be promoted to grade 11 without any formal online or offline examination.

“The parents and students are keeping their fingers crossed and guessing on the criteria of grade 11 admissions. I strongly feel that average marks of grade 9th of the previous school should be taken into consideration for granting admissions to grade 11. So far, the State Board has not decided the criteria for passing grade 10 students. Even the marks awarded by the Board for grade 10 students should be added to grade 9 home examination of the students for finding the average for granting admissions,” he said.

Dr Khan said that if the board is also thinking on the same line, then marks awarded by the Board should be considered for admission to grade 11.

Principal of St Lawrence High School Sunil Bhatia said, “Considering the present situation, I think online entrance test should be the best option for 11th standard admissions. Since the State Board hasn't yet given the evaluation scheme for SSC students, the entrance test will suit the purpose”.
