An alleged favoritism was done in the transfers of the tehsildars and the deputy collectors. The transfers were proposed in May but were done in October and most of the transferees have served at the present post not more than one or one and a half years. Hence, most of them plan to challenge the transfers at the Maharashtra Administrative Tribunal (MAT) for gaining stay, the sources said.

It has been alleged that some people approached ministers, MLAs and former MLAs for getting transfers at the preferred locations. Many people who have joined a year back and those who were transferred a year and half years back were transferred. The ministers have transferred their favoured persons.

The order of transfers of 23 deputy district collectors and 27 tehsildars was issued on October 1. This is the first list of the transferees while the second list is awaited. The file of the transfer was sanctioned at the chief ministerial level and the orders. Still, the second list has been kept pending by some minister, the sources said.
