AMC gets two cardiac ambulances; six more to receive by next week

Aurangabad, July 3:

The mechanical section of Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has received two cardiac ambulances on Friday. Meanwhile, the civic authorities are hoping to receive six general ambulances in a week. As reported earlier, the AMC purchased two cardiac and six general ambulances through the CSR fund of Rs 1.5 crore released to it by the state government.

It may be noted that the AMC was using Smart City Buses to transport Covid-19 patients during the first and the second wave in the city. The AMC health section had also hired a couple of ambulances as per the need. However, the deal proved to be dearer as the charges were exorbitant. As a result, the AMC demanded the state government for CSR funds to purchase the ambulances. Accordingly, the state government granted a CSR fund of Rs 1.5 crore to AMC. Later on, the AMC administrator A K Pandey had a discussion and finalised purchasing two cardiac and six general ambulances.

The AMC municipal officer of health (MoH) Dr. Neeta Padalkar initiated the process of purchasing the eight ambulances on the GeM Portal. Of which, the mechanical section received two cardiac ambulances on Friday. The executive engineer (mechanical) D K Pandit will now be sending these ambulances to Mumbai for the installation of medical equipment and accessories. Later on, the ambulances will be registered with RTO and then the ambulances will be handed over to the health section.

Meanwhile, the AMC officials are hoping to get the remaining six general ambulances in one week. Earlier, the AMC officers and personnel had donated their one-day salary to purchase one cardiac and two general ambulances. The cardiac ambulance is parked at Meltron Hospital, while one each general ambulance is parked at Cidco N-8 Hospital and AMC headquarter.
