Aurangabad, Feb 8:

The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has decided to construct tar roads of valuing Rs 50 crore in the city. Accordingly, the city engineer has prepared a detailed project report (DPR) and soon after the approval of the AMC administrator A K Pandey, the tenders will be floated and the works will get kickstarted on priority.

It may be noted that the AMC had got funds from state government in phases. In first phase, it had utilised Rs 24 crore to construct five concrete roads; Rs 100 crore to construct 30 white topping roads and presently works of 23 roads are underway by AMC along with MIDC and MSRDC, through a fund of Rs 152 crore. To sum up, the construction of nearly all the important roads had been completed in the city. Besides, in the past five years, the corporators had also completed

roads from their funds.

Meanwhile, the urban development department (UDD) had directed the AMC administrator not to construct a single concerete road, hereafter. Hence the administrator told the civic officials to prepare the DPR of tar roads in the city. It will be built through AMC fund. Accordingly, the city engineer S D Panzade prepared a DPR of Rs 50 crore and will submit it to the AMC administrator for his approval in a week. The provision of the same will be made in 2021-22 annual budget.

It may be noted many cement concrete roads had been built in the city through special funds or MLA or MP fund in the city. However, as per the latest directives, the AMC has decided not to sanction no-objection certificate (NoC) to such projects in future, said the sources.
