Aurangabad, May 3:

The municipal officer of health (MoH) Dr Neeta Padalkar today confirmed that the AMC is administering 300 vaccines daily through its three vaccination centres for citizens of age 18 to 44 years. Hence the AMC has a stock of vaccine which encourages the civic administration to implement the drive for 10 more days.

The new vaccination drive commenced all over the country from May 1. The union Government had assigned the responsibility of implementing the drive successfully to the state governments. Initially, there was a shortage of vaccines in Maharashtra, therefore, the supply of vaccines was limited to each district.

The vaccination centres of AMC are at Kaiser Colony, Sadatnagar and Mukundwadi. Each centre is giving the vaccine to 100 registered youngsters daily. Earlier, the state government has provided a stock of 3700 vaccines to the AMC on Friday. Accordingly, the vaccination was administered on Saturday and Monday. It is apparent the stock of vaccines supplied to AMC is insufficient as the population of 18 years (and less than 44 years) is estimated around 4 lakhs.

" There is a good response to the vaccination from the city youths. They are also co-operating the AMC in smooth conduct of the drive," said Dr Padalkar.
