Aurangabad, Jan 5:

The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) administrator AK Pandey today underlined that the civic administration would be submitting power-point presentations before the guardian minister Subhash Desai to lift the stay on two proposals of outsourcing schools, open spaces and playgrounds on public-private-partnership (PPP) basis. We will scrap the proposals if he does not grant permission to go ahead, he said.

To enhance the income of AMC, the administrator approved the proposals to outsource the operations of seven civic schools and develop five open spaces - reserved for educational purpose - on December 21, 2020. Accordingly, the civic administration started the process of inviting the expression of interests (EoI). The administrator, after approving them went on ten days leave. The newspaper highlighted the news. Sensation prevailed after the issues were surfaced and the guardian minister intervened and immediately stayed them. Taking cognizance of which the guardian minister took immediate action and stayed both the proposals. The acting municipal commissioner Sunil Chavan was also intimated about necessary action.

The seven non-functioning schools are in Geetanagar, N-9, N-11, Harshanagar, Moti Karanja, Gandhinagar and Railway Station Road. The five open spaces include two open spaces at Garkheda (3,600 square metres), Harsul (182 square metres), Kanchanwadi (4,450 square metres) and Nakshatrawadi (8,804 square metres).
