Aurangabad, April 15:

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI, Aurangabad Circle) has organised a drawing competition for the school and junior college students to commemorate World Heritage Day (on April 18).

According to the press release, " The topic of the competition is 'The monument visited by you '. The ASI has formed three groups for convenience in participation. The students from standard I to IV are in the first group; the second group comprises students from standard V to VIII, and the third group is for students from standard IX to XII. The young participants are appealed to send their drawings on the Email ID: circleaur.asi1@gmail.com. The entries can be sent by 12 pm on April 18."

It may be noted that in the wake of Covid-19, the heritage sites and monuments in the circle are closed for visitors from March 11 to April 30. Besides, the schools and colleges in the district are also closed till the next order.

According to the superintending archaeologist Dr Milan Kumar Chauley, " The ASI (Aurangabad Circle) celebrates the World Heritage Day, every year. The aim is to create awareness amongst the public, especially the students, and apprise them about the importance of our cultural heritage and the need to preserve them for future generations. Hence, we have decided to connect with the students through technology and attract their participation online to mark the day. In a way, the competition is providing an opportunity for students to test their drawing skills and replicate the image of monument visited by them."
