Bamu gets 246 proposals for new colleges
Aurangabad, Feb 11:
Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (Bamu) received 246 proposals new colleges.
The university invited proposals for starting new colleges from education societies of Aurangabad, Jalna, Beed and Osmanabad districts which fall within its jurisdiction.
The State Government hinted at starting 118 new colleges as per the perspective plan. Currently, there are 410 affiliated colleges to Bamu.
Most of the non-aided colleges lack full time approved teachers.
Some of them have a few students for admissions.
If the colleges get permission, they will function from the academic year 2021-22. In the new proposals, permission was sought for seven professional courses, one for engineering, three law college and as many Pharmacy. Bamu administration sent teams for college inspection.
After inspection, the proposals will be sent to different authorities for approval. The proposals will be forwarded to the State Government on February 28.
