Aurangabad, June 27:
District guardian minister Subhash Desai on Sunday performed ‘Bhoomipujan’ of ‘District Sports Complex, which will come up on 37 acres of land in Chikalthana.
The fund of Rs 3.84 crore was released as the first instalment much before. But, the Bhoomipuja was not done because of Covid.
MLAs Haribhau Bagade, Atul Save, Pradeep Jaiswal and MLC Ambadas Danve, district collector Sunil Chavan, commissioner of Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) Astik Kumar Pandey, commissioner of police Dr Nikhil Gupta, AMC city engineer S D Panzhade, district sports officer Kavita Nawande and others were present.
District guardian minister Subhash Desai said that the Government would provide the fund with all capacity for the construction of the sports complex. District Collector Chavan had removed encroachments from the land on January 6 and took it in possession.
The 37 acres of land was given for the district sports complex as per the notification issued by Urban Development Department.
The gairan land is available in gut no 216 and 2017 at Chikalthana. Nisargaraja Constructions was allotted the contract to carry construction of Rs 10 crore.
The sportsmen will get good quality facilities at the sports complex. It will have halls for skating, basketball, boxing, shooting range archery, weight lifting, multipurpose hall, gymnasium, badminton, 400 synthetic track, walking pathway, yoga, gymnastic, table tennis and wrestling hall, six internal roads, solar energy project, parking facility, a hostel for 150 boys and girls, rainwater harvesting.
This will give impetus to the sports culture o of the district after Sports Authority of Indian’s sports complex and divisional sports complex.
