Aurangabad, Jan 22:

The Brahman Samaj Sangharsh Samiti staged a Tamhan-Pali Bajao agitation in front of the divisional commissionerate on Friday. All the Brahmin organizations in the city were involved in this agitation.

The agitators dressed in traditional Brahmin costumes and wearing hats with the inscription Jai Parshuram attracted attention. The agitators said that the Brahmin community has been fighting for justice for many years. However, the government is ignoring the demands. Hence, the samiti staged an agitation so that the government should wake up and accept society's demands. A similar agitation will now be carried out in Vidarbha, Western Maharashtra. The committee also warned that if the government does not take a firm stand on the demands, the agitation will intensify. Former MP Chandrakant Khaire, MLA Atul Save, Vijaya Rahatkar met the protesters. Deepak Rananavare, Pramod Pusarekar, Dhananjay Kulkarni, Vijaya Awasthi, Sangeeta Sharma and Vijaya Kulkarni were present.

Demands of Brahmin community

Economic survey of the society should be done, Rs1000 crore should be provided for the society by setting up an independent economic development corporation, separate hostels for boys and girls should be set up in every district, KG to PG education should be made free. Bharat Ratna award should be given to Swatantryaveer Savarkar. A monthly honorarium of Rs 5,000 should be given to priests and action should be taken against those who make defamatory statements about the Brahmin community under the Atrocities Act or similar law.
