Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

A gang of burglars broke into a house in Deolai within 15 seconds using a tommy bar, making away with 8.5 tolas of gold. The burglary, which took place in the early hours of March 27, has raised concerns over the rising spate of house break-ins in the area. A case has been registered at Chikalthana Police Station.

Swift and Precise Break-In

Prafull Deshpande, a resident of Sai Kamal Housing Society, had left for an out-of-town trip with his family on March 25. Upon returning on March 26 evening, his eldest son discovered the main door broken and the house ransacked. Deshpande immediately informed the police, prompting an inspection by the Local Crime Branch.

CCTV footage revealed that four masked individuals entered the house at around 3 AM. The video showed them effortlessly prying open the latch lock with a tommy bar wedged between the door and the frame, gaining access in mere seconds. Authorities suspect the same gang to be involved in a similar heist at Maulinagar’s Deluxe Palm Phase 1, where valuables worth lakhs were stolen.

Thieves made away with a 28.76-tola gold necklace, an 18.39-tola smaller necklace, two gold chains weighing 16.18g and 14g, a 5g gold locket, 1.22g button tops, a 2.19g pendant, and Rs 3,000 in cash.

✔ Replace simple screws with long, thick screws to strengthen the lock.

✔ Install latch locks on hardwood or metal-framed doors.

✔ Reinforce doors with metal strips and extra support.

✔ Add a deadbolt lock for enhanced security.

CCTV images and footage are available.
