Aurangabad, Feb 17:

The All India Bank of Maharashtra Employees Federation (AIBOMEF) has appealed to the customers not to believe in baseless and apprehensive reports made on the privatization of public sector banks including Bank of Maharashtra (BoM).

AIBOMEF general secretary Devidas Tuljapurkar said that claims are being made regarding privatization of public sector banks including BoM without any sources that are creating confusion in the minds of customers. People are losing confidence in public sector banks due to such fake reports. At this point, the RBI and government should have initiated steps thus to repose confidence in banking instead of government vide its budget announcement on privatization has given scope for speculation and further destabilization. Financials of all the PSBs are strong. The unions in the banks are proactive and will continue their efforts in perusing with the government to maintain its public sector character. Government and RBI should come forward and clarify their positions.
