Aurangabad, Jan 25:

The guardian minister Subash Desai has underlined that acquiring 182 acres of land for the expansion of city airport has begun. The airport is of international standard. Hence, it is said that direct flights from Japan and Europe would be landing here. The measurement of land is underway. The policy of the state and the central government is to acquire the land through negotiation and consent. Hence, the negotiation will be done on compensation before the land acquisition, he said.

The expansion project is of the central government. While it is going on, it the responsibility of the government to represent the local residents. We will stand by them. He said the matter would also be taken up to the union minister of civil aviation Harpreet Singh Puri.

It is learnt that the revenue administration is not given any responsibility as a competent land acquisition office. Hence the officials are just coordinating the land record officials to measure the land to be acquired.

The farmers are fearing that around 1500 properties would be affecting due to the expansion. They suggested acquiring agriculture land, rather than constructed properties of the people.

Meanwhile, there is confusion over how many properties and land are going to be affected. Many of them are also eager to know whether they would be getting benefits as per the Land Acquisition Act of 2013 or not?
