Aurangabad, Feb 17:

An interesting twist has emerged in the Aurangabad District Central Cooperative Bank elections after the District Congress president Kalyan Kale surprised one and all by announcing that they (Congress) will contest the election as Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA). Earlier, ADCCB elections were to be held unopposed.

It may be noted that the DCCB elections in Ahmednagar were held unopposed. As a result, the outgoing chairman Nitin Patil and his colleagues were also taking efforts to implement the same pattern. BJP's MLA Haribhau Bagade is also active in the election.

The fight would now be between panels of MVA and BJP. On the third day (today) the returning officer Mukesh Barhate has received two nominations filed by Sameer Abdul Sattar and Javed Patel. The minister of state (MoS) Abdul Sattar and Nitin Patil had submitted their nominations yesterday. So far, 60-70 nomination forms had sold out, said Barhate.

Many of the sitting directors (on the board) were to submit their nominations today, but could not as they had to attend last rites in Phulambri. They would be submitting their nominations tomorrow. The nomination forms were procured by Kiran Patil Dongaonkar, Jaganath Kale, Ravindra Kale, Jairam Salunkhe, Rahul Sawant, Shahnawaz Khan, Ankush Randhe and others today.
