Aurangabad, March 21:

The number of citizens testing positive in the city is increasing tremendously. About 32 patients tested positive out of 100 citizens on Saturday. The positivity rate has also risen from 15 per cent to 32 per cent. This indicates that corona infection is spreading rapidly in the city. In particular, the recovery rate of corona patients has dropped to 80 per cent, raising concerns.

Since March 1, the number of corona patients has been steadily increasing. A month ago, 20 to 25 corona patients were found in the district every day. However, as more than a thousand patients are being found in the district every day in the last three weeks, the centre and the state governments have also expressed concern over the growing number of patients in Aurangabad. On Saturday, the highest number of 1,679 patients was found in the district to date. There were 1,217 new patients from the city. According to the report received from the municipal corporation, the rate of corona positivity of the city on Saturday has been recorded as high as 32 per cent. In other words, after 100 corona tests, 32 people tested positive for corona. This is the highest positivity rate to date, and health experts have expressed concern. At present, there are a total of 10,458 active patients in the district, out of which 8,140 patients are from the city. The administration is under tremendous pressure to provide treatment to these patients. It is feared that the situation in the city could worsen if the corona outbreak continues at this rate.

Recovery rates declined as mortality increased

While the prevalence of corona is increasing, the number of deaths in infected patients is also increasing. In the last three days alone, 40 victims have died in the district. Corona recovery rate, on the other hand, has also declined as the death toll has risen. The city's recovery rate, which was earlier at 100 per cent, was recorded at 80.261 per cent on Saturday.

2,617 patients at home

The growing number of patients in the city has created a big problem of shortage of beds for treatment. Therefore, the administration has decided to keep corona patients with mild symptoms in their home isolation. As many as 2,617 patients have been kept in home isolation till Saturday.
