Corona surpasses Dengue
Aurangabad, Feb 1:
In 2019, Dengue had created havoc in the district and around 527 patients were infected with this disease. Corona pandemic surpassed Dengue in 2020 and the impact of Dengue was not felt last year.
In the past few years, Dengue was getting more severe. However, 2020 was an exception and very nominal Dengue patients were reported this year. The total patients reported last year were only 48.
Dengue is caused by Aedes Aegypti mosquito and it lays eggs on clean water. Hence, it is important that water is not stored for more time.
Patient infected by dengue has severe fever and suffer body, head, eyes, bones aches. The patients do not feel hungry and suffer nausea and stomach ache.
In 2020, Dengue survery of 24,511 houses were conducted in the district, in which, mosquito larvae was found in 738 houses in 3251 utensils. The larvae was destroyed. In all, 142 dengue suspects were reported last year while 48 were confirmed.
