Crime wave hits city

A series of crimes have shaken the city, including a brutal attack over a matchbox, a mobile snatching, and a jewellery theft worth Rs 10 lakh.
On March 14, around 6 pm Govind Badure from Mayurnagar stopped near Deogiri Bank, Jadhavwadi, when two men asked for a matchbox. When he refused, they attacked him, and looted his mobile phone, Rs 20,000 cash, and a 4-tola gold bracelet. The assailants smashed his head with a brick, leaving him seriously injured. Cidco police are investigating the case. On March 12, around 11 pm, Kapil Bilwal was walking near Gajanan Maharaj Temple Road when two men on a bike snatched his mobile phone and fled. Police are checking CCTV footage to identify the suspects.
Jewellery worth Rs 10 lakh stolen at event
During a Shiv Puran Katha at Mayur Park on March 12, thieves mixed with devotees and stole eight mangalsutras and gold necklaces worth nearly Rs 10 lakh. The thefts happened in minutes as women stood in the entry queue. Police have registered a case and are investigating.
