Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:
As summer begins, incidents of fires have been occurring in various parts of the city. To prevent such fires in the first place, it is essential for establishments to take some basic precautionary measures. However, many people deliberately ignore these costly measures. When a fire occurs, it causes damage worth crores. If fire suppression systems are used, the fire can be contained to some extent. In many places, fires have been successfully controlled using such methods.
Violation of fire safety rules
Large commercial establishments are required by law to obtain an NOC (No Objection Certificate) from the CSMC’s fire section. To prevent fires, a complete fire safety system must be installed. Once the system is in place, a private agency provides certification. Following this, the municipal corporation conducts an inspection. Based on the inspection, the NOC is issued. If these rules are violated, the municipal corporation can take action.
Fire Safety Audit
A fire safety audit refers to the annual inspection of the systems installed by establishments to prevent fires. The audit ensures that all systems are functioning properly. It also checks whether the cylinders used for fire prevention are not expired. These aspects need to be thoroughly examined to ensure the safety measures are up-to-date and effective.
Notice to establishments
CSMC’s chief fire officer, Sampat Bhagat, said, “The Fire Section of the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation conducts periodic inspections. Establishments that are found to have deficiencies are immediately issued notices. This is a regular process. Currently, there have been fires at scrap yards, warehouses, and furniture godowns in the city. These establishments will be prioritised for notices. This process will be initiated soon.”
