District administration able to control black marketing of injections
Aurangabad, May 28:
In the second wave of coronavirus, the relatives of the patients rushed to get the remdesivir injection, and now the same can be seen for injection of amphetamine-B used to control mucormycosis. Although the number of corona patients has decreased, remdesivir injections are still being given to patients.
Due to the transparent work of the committee constituted by district collector Sunil Chavan in distributing these two injections, it was possible to stop the black market. As they were distributed equally from private and government hospitals, the shortage of remdesivir was felt to a lesser extent. Amphetamine-B is also being injected into patients, even though the supply is low. The district administration tried to distribute an average of 400 injections of remdesivir daily to 113 private hospitals. As of April and May, about 18,000 injections were distributed. Each hospital was given a facility number. Injections were given only after confirming the number of patients on the ventilator. Injections are still being distributed on the same lines.
Estimated demand
Collector Chavan said that the plan for remdesivir demand was prepared in November 2020. Accordingly, the demand and supply was started. There is no mediation beyond the triad of patients, hospitals and administration. Also, a table of how many injections were given to whom is being posted on the website of the district administration every day. So the patients could see everything clearly. To date, no malpractice has taken place in the distribution.
Amphetamine-B injection shortage will be reduced
Chavan said that the shortage of amphetamine-B injections would be reduced in the near future, adding that the injections were being given according to the body weight of the patient. A patient needs at least 7 injections. There are at least 400 patients with mucormycosis. The administration is trying to get them injections in time.
