Aurangabad, April 21:

The deputy director of health (DDH) has received a stock of 48,000 doses of Covishield vaccine, including 25,000 for Aurangabad district, on Tuesday night. The directorate distributed the vaccine on war footing on Wednesday morning. Of the total stock, the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) got 15,900 doses for the urban sector and the district health officer (DHO) got 10,000 doses for the rural sector. It is for sure that the vaccination drive could continue in the district for few more days till the fresh stock is received.

It may be noted that the AMC had to wind up the vaccination drive on Tuesday afternoon when the stock of vaccines at its few centres, got exhausted. On the other hand, the district health administration was having a stock of 5,000 doses till Tuesday evening. Meanwhile, the DDH office heaved a sigh of relief when the fresh stock of vaccine was received to them on April 20 night. Although there was an official holiday on Wednesday, the staff of the directorate was seen taking efforts to distribute the vaccines.

The deputy director (health) Dr Swapnil Lale said," We had distributed all the vaccine doses. The stock of vaccines was also dispatched to Jalna (12,900 doses) and Parbhani (9,200 doses) districts along with Aurangabad district."
