Aurangabad, June 4:

Dr. Fareed Zakaria, the son of India's eminent author, political leader, thinker, and Islamic scholar Dr. Rafiq Zakaria will be the new Chairman Emeritus of Maulana Azad Educational Trust (MAET), which has established a dozen educational institutions since its inception in the city, stated the press release issued by the Principal of Maulana Azad College, today.

Meanwhile, Farhat Jamal will be the Chairman, in addition to his role as Managing Trustee, and the long-serving Trustee MP, Supriya Sule, will be the Vice-Chairperson of MAET.

MAET was founded by Dr. Zakaria with a mission to provide quality education to students in areas of Science, Arts, Commerce, Pharmacy, Hotel Management, Higher Learning, and Research to the marginalized and poor sections of society.

After the passing away of Dr. Zakaria in 2005, Padma Shri Fatma Zakaria lead the Trust as the Chairperson till her passing away in April, this year. The departed souls had devoted their lives to develop and take the educational institutions to greater heights of excellence.

The Trustees vowed to maintain the objectives of the Trust and collectively provide the best in class education to all with minority focus. The new chairman, Farhat Jamal said that he is grateful to be appointed as the head of this distinguished Trust and deeply honoured to have Dr. Fareed Zakaria as the Chairman Emeritus.

" We look forward to his mentorship, guidance, and wise counsel. The Trust will maintain an unwavering focus to provide quality education to students and stay true to the values of our founders and sworn firmly to vision and objectives," added the new chairman.
