Aurangabad, April 27:

Except for my mother, my father, I and my wife and daughter were shocked when the report came positive. But more attention was paid to the doctor's advice, nutritious diet, proper rest and cleanliness in the house. Similarly, the positive encouragement given by the neighbours and relatives helped us overcame the battle against corona, said Mandar Kulkarni, a resident of Cidco. Mandar is one of the several people who defeated corona in home isolation.

Mandar Kulkarni is a resident of Shivdatta Housing Society. Both Mandar and his wife are working in the IT sector in Pune. However, when the corona outbreak started last year, he decided to move to Aurangabad, where he has been doing work from home for the past year. Father Sudhakar Kulkarni (72), mother Usha Kulkarni, wife Ambika Kulkarni and the one and a half year old daughter Dharitri Kulkarni live in the house. His father suddenly started having trouble breathing and considering his age, he was admitted to a private hospital. Later all the members of the family were checked for corona and all of them except his mother Usha tested positive. As the home was large, they decided to stay at home with the doctor's permission. Mandar, his wife and daughter were in separation in separate rooms. Doctors were communicating on video calling every other day taking information and giving advice. As the mother was cooking food there was no need to order food from outside. Emphasis was laid on nutritious meals. Neighbours and relatives cooperated, from bringing groceries to giving positive encouragement. It was due to encouragement and support, that we were freed from Covid-19," Mandar said.

Emphasis on blow up balloons

Initially, there was difficulty in breathing but after two days the difficulty subsided. After coming home, I started feeling weak and tired. At that time I needed oxygen for two days. During this time I blew many balloons, which improved the time required for improving breathing, said Sudhakar Kulkarni

Kept a positive attitude

We kept a positive mindset. With that in mind, I listened to religious songs, romantic songs from Marathi and Hindi movies. What is special is that I did not look at any news of corona during this period. We used use and throw trays, bowls, glasses for meals, said

Mandar Kulkarni.

More emphasis on diet, relaxation

We increased our intake of fruits as well as nuts. Reduce the amount of oil, chilli powder and salt in the meal. Took hot water steam three times a day. Drunk turmeric and milk while sleeping at night and rested as much as possible and put more emphasis on maintaining the cleanliness of the house said Ambika Kulkarni
