Aurangabad, Feb 21:

The Corona patients are increasing in the district rapidly. The patients have doubled in just 20 days. If the number of patients will increase in a similar manner, the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) will have to take strenuous efforts to treat the patients.

On September 24, 2020, number of patients admitted at the GMCH was 353 in which the number of severe patients was 230. Later, the number of patients started decreasing. Hence, patients were admitted only to the super-specialty block building. On February 1, there were only 41 patients. With the increasing number of patients, the patients' number has reached the century mark on Sunday, of which, 56 patients are normal while 44 are severe, the administration informed.

Severe Corona patients are treated at the GMCH. If the patients increase, it is an indication that the Corona situation is severe. Moreover, the administration reduced the contractual employees as the number of patients was decreasing. If the patients increase, the administration will face problems for the treatment of the patients. The GMCH needs 155 health employees for the treatment of Corona patients. The administration has demanded the district collectorate to increase the human resources and Rs 90,71,376 for their salaries for three months.
