Ahead of Diwali, GMCH contract workers struck Thursday morning over unpaid bonuses, rejecting a 3-4 thousand rupee advance instead of full payment. The strike ended after Dean Dr. Shivaji Sukhre’s assurance.

As per regulations, bonuses are a right for contract workers. On Thursday, GMCH Hospital’s contract workers went on strike, demanding bonuses outside the Medical Superintendent’s office. Workers, including Mahendra Misal, Sandeep Dhepe, and others, voiced frustration after the contractor offered only a small advance. After five hours, the strike ended following assurances from Dean Dr. Sukhre stated, “I communicated with senior officials at the Ministry and pressured the concerned contracting company to ensure the employees are paid. The workers are no longer on strike.”
