GVPR company seeks police protection after attacks on officials
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar
GVPR Company, responsible for the city's new water supply scheme, has requested police protection for its officials following attacks on them.
The company’s manager, Mahendra Gogaloth, was attacked at the office in Osmanpura on Thursday evening. A case has been registered by the police. Before the attack, the company's officials had been receiving threatening calls, prompting them to report the matter to the police. The office was then provided police protection, but the attack occurred after police personnel had left. Gogaloth formally requested personal protection for the company’s officials from the CP and district collector on Saturday.
The attack is believed to be linked to overdue payments from small contractors hired for laying water pipelines. These contractors allegedly visited the office demanding payment but were not paid. Sources suggest that this financial issue may have led to the attack. However, Gogaloth denied any overdue payments, explaining that there had only been slight delays.
