Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

Holi celebrations turned violent in the city, with eight clashes reported over colour disputes. An unauthorized Holi party on Beed Bypass led to four organizers, including a former corporator, facing legal action, police confirmed.

Despite tight police security due to Holi coinciding with Ramzan prayer calls, multiple fights broke out across the city. CP Pravin Pawar, DCP’s Nitin Bagate, Shilwant Nandedkar, and Prashant Swami, along with other senior officers, patrolled the city since morning. ACP (Traffic) Dhananjay Patil led strict checks at Kranti Chowk with riot control units. This ensured a strong deterrent against troublemakers, yet several fights erupted over color-related disputes.

Knife attack, street fights reported

A stabbing incident occurred in Rahimpur, Waluj, while brawls erupted in Cantonment, Jawaharnagar, Padegaon, outside Hotel Ellora at Kranti Chowk, and near Gulzar Cinema.

Ex-corporator among 4 booked

At Hivale Lawns, an illegal Holi event led to a clash between two groups. Vishal Shahu Awad (21, Indiranagar) and Rishikesh Prashant Annadate (24, Pisadevi) were booked for fighting. Former corporator Appasaheb Hivale and Ansh Raut (Bajajnagar) were booked for organizing the event without permission.

22 drunk drivers detained

Police checked 278 drivers and found 22 intoxicated while driving. They were detained and penalized, confirmed ACP Dhananjay Patil.
