Home isolation continues as positivity rate in district is less than 18 other districts of Maharashtra
Aurangabad, May 27:
The health experts underlined the need of discontinuing the home isolation treatment facility for the Covid-19 patients in the district, although the state government had preferred continuing the facility due to the low positivity rate and death ratio compared to 18 other districts of Maharashtra (where the facility has been stopped).
To control and monitor the spreading pattern of the virus, the state government has decided to stop the home isolation facility and prefer isolating the patients in the Covid Care Centres. The facility has been stopped in 18 districts for having patients more than the average ratio of the state. However, the experts pinpoint the need of stopping the facility in Aurangabad also as many patients do not follow the norms while undergoing treatment at home. Instead, they step out of their homes for any reason and pose danger to others. Later on, they seek admission in the hospitals when the condition of health deteriorates. This also increases the ratio of mortality, they said.
It may be noted that till Wednesday, there were 393 patients undergoing treatment under the home isolation facility. The civil surgeon Dr. S V Kulkarni said," The facility has been stopped in the districts where the positivity rate was up till 15 percent and the ratio of death was 3 percent. The positivity rate of Aurangabad is 8 percent and the death ratio is less than 3 pc. Hence the home isolation facility is continued here. Besides, the strength of patients is also very less."
