Aurangabad, Oct 23:

The grand rally, Julus-e-Muhammadi, which is taken out every year to celebrate the birth anniversary of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad will not be taken out in the city, on October 30, due to Coronavirus Disease, said the organisers.

The devotees will celebrate Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi in their houses with enthusiasm. There will not be a single public function, said the coordinator of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi Coordination Committee Dr Shaikh Murtuza.

The tradition of celebrating the Prophet''s birth anniversary and organising various programmes started in the city in 1964. Earlier, Hyderabad''s Tamir-e-Millat organisation would initiate in managing the functions. Grand rally (Julus-e-Muhammadi) is organised in the old city. It is participated by various organisations, apart from a large number of devotees. Due to myriad reasons, the organisers could not conduct the rally since 1984 for some years. However, there was not a single gap from 1996 till 2019. Amid bursting of firecrackers, the rally would start from Hazrat Nizamuddin Chowk. Flag hoistings are done at places, and the rally participants are welcomed by throwing flower petals.

Two days ago, the office-bearers had met the commissioner of police Nikhil Gupta and then it was then decided not to conduct public function including rally.

The devotees should illuminate their homes and celebrate the occasion. The teachings of the Prophet were for the whole of mankind (the world). Hence, we will be conducting social programmes like blood donation camp, feed the poor and needy, distribute sherbet etc. All of them should celebrate the Eid at their homes, not at public places, said Dr Shaikh.
