Aurangabad, April 19:

The divisional commissioner Sunil Kendrekar directed all the private hospitals to perform an independent audit of each bill issued by them. The hospitals should display a board mentioning the name of the auditor, his contact number so that it could be viewed by the visitors. He threatened of filing cases against hospitals if they are found guilty during the surprise check-up.

He was addressing a meeting of public representatives organised at the district collectorate, in connection with the Remdesivir injections and oxygen management, today. Kendrekar convinced them saying that all the required facility needed for the treatment of Covid-19 patients is available in the district. The stock of oxygen is also available in adequate quantity, but it would be wiser to plan today estimating the possible oxygen stock required in future.

MP Imtiaz Jaleel, MP Bhagwat Karad, MLAs Haribhau Bagade, Pradeep Jaiswal, Sanjay Shirsaat, Atul Save, Ramesh Bornare, MLC Ambadas Danve, ZP president Meena Shelke, collector Sunil Chavan, commissioner of police Nikhil Gupta, municipal commissioner A K Pandey, ZP chief executive officer Mangesh Gondawale and many other key officers were present in the meeting.

Kendrekar recommends the hospitals for using Tocilizumab injection instead of Remdesivir as an alternate. He also focussed on the need for oxygen management. He said, " Provide oxygen to needy patients only, avoid using it unnecessarily and take care that it is not wasted (leakages) etc. If this is brought into practice then we could overcome the growing demand for oxygen."

Kendrekar appealed to the private hospitals having 30-bed facilities to start their own oxygen plants at their establishments instead of depending upon the administration. The plants should be monitored under the chairmanship of the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation commissioner.

The divisional commissioner apprised that an adequate quantity of beds, apart from 1,000 ICU beds, are available in the district. Besides, 61,000-kilolitres of liquid oxygen and 6,000 Remdesivir injections are also in stock for the patients in the district.
