Aurangabad, April 21: Aurangabad was supposed to get a consignment of 2,000 Remdesivir injections today but the vehicle carrying them had not arrived here by this evening. As a consequence, relatives had to run around for producing it.

Some injections were sent from the stock of the Government Medical College and Hospital to MGM and Dhoot Hospital. Other private hospitals, however, could not get the injection.

Relatives told this scribe that they could not get the injection in any medical shop in the city.

Relatives of patients from Marathwada, Nashik, Dhule and Chalisgaon met the Food and Drug Administration officials here seeking help.

The injection is provided on demand from the medicine department of the GMCH for patients being treated at private hospitals. However, on Wednesday the demand rose leading to the shortage.

Sources in the administration said that government’s negotiations with a company had not been finalised due to the rates which has led to the current situation.

When contacted, district collector Sunil Chavan said, the GMCH, civil hospital and Aurangabad Municipal Corporation have stock of the injections. Some injections have been loaned to big hospitals. Injections are being delivered on receiving letter of requirement from Covid hospitals. The stock of 2000 injections will be received by tomorrow.
