Aurangabad, Jan 15:

A man distributing money during the grampanchayat elections and the person taking the money were arrested at Ranjangaon in Waluj Mahanagar area on Friday.

The voting for the election of the grampanchayat was being held at Ranjangaon Shenpunji was conducted on Friday. At around 4.30 pm, PI, of the Waluj MIDC police station received the information that a person is distributing money to the voters to vote for his favoured candidate. The police rushed and found a man distributing money to the voters near Bhagatsingh School. The police arrested Babasaheb Shekde (42) for distributing money and Shaikh Salim (both residents of Ranjangaon) for accepting Rs 500 for a vote. A case has been registered at the Waluj MIDC police station on the basis of the case lodged by constable Dhiraj Kabli. PSI Chetan Ogale is further investigating the case.
