Aurangabad, March 23:

A father (35), who raped his 9-year-old daughter, was sentenced to life imprisonment and slapped with a fine of Rs 58,000 under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and various sections by session judge K R Chaudhary on Tuesday. Out of the fine, Rs 20,000 has to be paid to the victim.

The victim's mother had lodged a complaint in this regard. The victim was in third grade. Her father has a habit of drinking alcohol. On March 9, 2017, the accused took the victim to Devgaon Rangari on a bicycle saying that he would give her new slippers. But the accused and the victim did not come home that night. The next day, the accused left the victim in front of the house and left. When the mother took the victim for a bath, she noticed a bruise on her back. When asked, she said that the accused had beaten her, took her to a field and sexually offended her. When the victim protested, the accused threatened her. A case was registered at Devgaon Rangari police station. The then API R J Aade investigated and filed a charge sheet in the court. During the hearing, assistant public prosecutor Arvind Bagul and Dnyaneshwari Nagula-Doli recorded the statements of 9 witnesses. After the hearing, the court gave the above orders.
