Aurangabad, Feb 3:
The Sarpanch and deputy sarpanch will be elected on February 8. Accordingly, after the reservation was released, the aspirants are forming a front and most of the newly appointed members have been sent on a trip. However, the members will have to carryout Covid-19 test before they can participate in the selection process. The reports will have to be submitted to the concerned officials before entering the village.
Polling was held in the district for 617-gram panchayats (GP) on January 15. The reservation for Sarpanch post was declared. After the reservation was declared, many aspirants sent the concerned members on a trip. Now, The Sarpanch and deputy sarpanch will be elected on February 8 and the district collector has instructed all the members to undergo corona test before the selection process.
This decision will prevent members from directly participating in the selection process. They will also have to present the report to the officer, who will then involve them in the selection process. In the meantime, if any member's report is positive, he will be given the right to vote at the last minute. However, in order to participate in this process, he has been instructed to wear PPE kit and be present at the GP office. This decision has scarred many and especially the members who have gone on the trip have created an atmosphere of fear.
No election in Vaijapur and Paithan
The selection process will not take place in Vaijapur and Paithan tehsils. The administration has clarified that further action will be taken after the court order as the reservation for the post of sarpanch in both these tehsils has been pending in the High Court.
