Marathwada reels under water shortage as heat intensifies
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar
Rising temperatures have worsened water scarcity in rural Marathwada, especially in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. With over a month left for the monsoon, the region is increasingly dependent on water tankers for daily needs.
A total of 184 tankers are supplying water in the region. Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar alone accounts for 135 tankers, covering 93 villages and 12 hamlets. Jalna follows with 47 tankers, while Nanded receives water from 2 tankers.
Wells acquired to meet demand
To tackle the crisis, administrations have acquired 206 private wells for tanker use. Sub-divisional officers are overseeing the supply in affected areas.
