Veteran journalist Lakshmi Murthy had an intense Masterclass on journalism with the students of Wockhardt Global School, recently. This was the first of a series of Masterclasses lined up for students as part of their experiential learning, career counselling and learning beyond the classroom.

The interactive session included difference between print and electronic media, ethics in journalism, types of news and interviews, the 5 basic questions a headline should answer and how to understand fake news. One section dealt with journalism as a career and the means to acquire the necessary qualifications for it. “Ma’am, what should a guest at a TV debate do, if the anchor does not allow them to speak?”, “At what stage should we stop reporting a particular news item?” and “How should we write a news article, what makes it creative?”, were some of the questions Murthy answered with finesse.
