Aurangabad, March 30: Mahatma Gandhi Mission group of schools recently organised an online orientation programme for parents to discuss and explain the important aspects of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Dr Vijayam Ravi, an eminent educationist and an NEP Expert, addressed the parents on certain key aspects of school education under NEP. This was followed by a presentation on NEP fundamentals by Perminder Virdee, principal of The MGM School Padegaon, ECCE by Meeta Kapoor, principal of First Steps School Cidco, assessment and vocational subjects by Varsha Potdar, coordinator of Cloverdale School, holistic development and methodology by Seema Sharma, vice-principal of The MGM School, Padegaon. The focus was on the partnership between parents and school for making the new policy a living document. Dr Ravi encouraged parents to re-imagine education for their children in a creative and meaningful way to inspire them to become lifelong learners. She shared how rote learning methods and focus on too much writing in the early years can cause damage to the child’s growth. Parents found satisfying answers to their questions and concerns. The programme was supported by director, MGM Group of Schools Dr Aparna Kakkad and deputy director Dr Namrata Jajoo, said administrators Sushma Mohite and Mallika Nair.
