Aurangabad, March 9:

German-based Karl Storz Company accorded Centre of Excellence (CoE) to Centre for Endoscopy and Minimal Invasive Surgery of MGM Medical College and Hospital for advanced laparoscopy.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, MGM’s Dean Dr Rajendra Bohra and deputy dean Dr Pravin Suryavanshi said that the Centre for Endoscopy and Minimal Invasive Surgery was established in 2001 to provide advanced hepato-pancreato biliary and minimally invasive surgical care to serve poor and needy people at reasonable charges.

They said that their hospital had performed more than 5000 ‘lap. cholecystectomies’ without a single conversion in the last 16 years and had the largest series of laparoscopic total cystopericystectomy for the liver's hydatid cyst.

“Considering quality in our work, Karl Storz Germany has recognised our centre as ‘Centre of Excellence’ for advanced laparoscopy. The company has installed its high-end state of the art equipment, including the ‘OR-one’ Rubina 4 K system. This is the first installation in South Asian countries with the complete ultra-modern modular theatre which has added a new feature in our cap,” they added. Dr Rekha Shelke was also present at the briefing.
