Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran (MJP) has started a survey to implement the state government''s approved new water supply scheme Rs 1680 crore. MJP has formed a special squad comprising seven officers to inspect the water distribution system of the old water supply scheme in the city. They will submit the survey report in 10 days. The survey is conducted with the help of Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) officials.

The Urban Development Department will give its final approval to the water supply scheme, soon. According to sources, the squad comprising seven MJP officers will visit places to jot down the condition of existing overhead and other water storages, their capacities, the condition of water pipelines laid in the city.

There are 64 elevated water storages, out of which, nine are unused. Hence, the surveying team will inspect the condition of existing water storages, the need to undertake repair and maintenance etc. It will also notify tanker-filling facilities near the water storages. The squad will also check the conditions of water pipelines - either of cement or steel etc.

The local MJP officers had instructed the squad to submit the report in 10 days. AMC''s water supply engineers are helping in the survey.

It is learnt that the survey from Jayakwadi to Nakshatrawadi has been completed. The survey of the city will also get complete in 10 days. There is a possibility of getting final approval to the water project from UDD at any moment. As soon as the approval gets, the MJP will issue a work order to the contractor and start the work. The survey will be of great help while starting the work. Conducting the survey today is saving time, said MJP sources.
