Aurangabad, June 2:

The Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran (MJP) through the contractor, of an ambitious new water supply scheme valuing Rs 1680 crore, has undertaken the task of laying 44 kilometers long water distribution pipelines on 23 roads in the city. So far, the laying of a 3-km long pipeline has been completed.

As reported earlier, the state government had sanctioned the water project to quench the thirst of Aurangabadians. The waterworks are underway under the supervision of an independent project management committee (PMC).

It may be noted that the AMC has planned to develop 23 roads in the city. As a result, it had alerted MJP to lay the pipelines on these routes before starting the road works. The contractor will lay HDP (High-Density Polyethylene) pipes of length 34 km and DI (Ductile Iron) pipes of length 10 km.

Meanwhile, the experts fear that the depth of trench being dugged to lay pipelines should be increased or it would affect the shape of pipes in the future.
